Thanks X,

For posting the article to me. I probably would not have seen it..BTW, that is the wonderful part of the internet, where all different perspectives can and WILL be brought to light by the various proponents.. Along this line, I wonder what a poll of only " active internet" users, (which I believe are in general the more informed) from our country would show in the way of support for a invasion of Iraq.. (By active, I do not mean just posters, but the MANY read- only types, information junkies, which probably far outnumber the posters sort of like talk radio, where listeners IMO, are in the much greater majority)..

Next, I would suggest the administration bring Ms. Mackey into their circle of advisors if they wanted the most peaceful resolution of the crisis.

And finally, She points out how we are paying the price of "nation building" from years ago.. Arbitrarily drawing geographic boundaries from thousands of miles away to form geopolitical entities to satisfy the self-interest of the "builder's" is always bound to fail eventually.. Witness the Balkans, the former USSR, various "coutries" in Africa, etc.. This ethnic shoehorning only creates strife.

Oh, if we do somehow "take out" SH, It is my opinion now that we should back off, and let the various ethnic groups within the "country" try to sort it out for themselves and draw their OWN boundaries or NONE at all if that is what they which.. .

At least for awhile. If it gets too bloody, then I think there would be worldwide support for intervention.. I don't know which of these groups historically control the "prize".. Hopefully all would have a little oil within their "tribal states" which they could then peacefully produce for us consumers for their benefit.

That's just my first thoughts and I reserve the right to change my mind <g>.

Take care,

m
