Art-- doing nothing and hoping for the best makes sense right now, when a consolidation of resources is necessary in North America and Europe. But Forrester is looking out n a decade and seeing nothing. I don't think their guess is necessarily as good as any. Bearishness and linearity sells reports to managers of down at the heels corporations.

I haven't seen much about the costs involved with GSM/1X, just a stale lot about old politics. Is installed W-CDMA infrastructure modifiable? Is Nokia installing new unusable W-CDMA infrastructure for Vodafone Ireland under new contracts this month, or is it something with better prospects technologically? Is Vodafone Ireland installing basestations that won't work with the handsets? Has Vodafone actually specified that all 3G handsets will contain Qualcomm asics, or is that just rumor? Maybe just whistling past the graveyard, maybe not.
