OK, MSI said Michael Moore claimed that Canada has similar gun ownership levels to the US but much lower levels of gun-related killings. Now if that is true our high rate of gun-related killings isn't a necessary result of our gun ownership levels. I know that's a simple conclusion. Since you don't think much of it - tell us the complicated liberal thinking about this.

The forward radar sites for detecting ICBMs are in Canada,

I know -their contribution to our mutual defence is geographic - they provide sites.

..when we had Nike [not the shoe] the plan was to shoot incoming warheads over Canadian territory, not US.

Yes, but most of their population lives within 50 miles of the US border so they are about as well protected as the northern US.

In return for this favor, we hit Canada with tariffs on lumber and send them acid rain.

US policy may be wrong on lumber tariffs - don't know enough to say. Re. acid rain - Canada has industry in lower Ontario and up through the St Lawrence. So I presume they produce acid rain which goes somewhere - conceivably from lower Ontario to New England though I'm not certain of that. Anyway I suspect pollution is a regional problem and we and they both contribute to it.

Of course, you may be right. Canada may be one more of the many wronged victims of the bad old US.

Oh come now, jt, Canada helped out with the dew line and so forth, but they hardly shield us with their military.

Every other year or so, the Canadians send their aerobatic team here for a fine show. Their aerial stunts are truly amazing, but the planes are tiny trainers, not combat aircraft. I was alarmed to see that the planes were in need of new tires, the steel belts showing through the tread.

Our friends the Canadians are fine neighbors and good friends but it is they who are protected by our military.
