No President has been a bigger friend of Israel than 43. He was there, although not to hot on Sharon, before 911. Yet he has the least support among Jews of any President in History. There is an inverse correlation between American Jewish political support and support for Israel. Go Figure! Mostly on domestic issues. But I think 43 was 'hot' on Sharon even before 9/11 -- remember the helicopter tour of Israel Arik took him on in 1998? Very useful I'm sure in showing 43 how tiny Israel is, something hard for a Texan to believe. One thing I hear constantly from people who have actually met or worked for Sharon is Sharon's great personal warmth and the strength of the loyalty he engenders among his followers (loyalty which goes two ways apparently, a shared value with 43). I think these two men had a working relationship even before 9/11.
