Shack -- does it at all concern you that (except for Merlin, who is already off today but may yet be right) EVERYONE is looking for this same retrace then resumption of the rally? Bulls and bears alike are looking for it here. . . so there needs to be a wrinkle, I think. (And actually, a move to 8400 dow from this weak open might be enough of a wrinkle, cuz by some of my charts, we've broken the wedges we'd been making, but there's been no followthrough).

Also, a broad board question: what's with the VIX? This is the first sharp rally we've had like this that didn't get the VIX to totally melt. Is that bullish cuz it's creating the wall of worry? Or bearish because smart money is loading up on puts? If I look at the VIX chart as a stock, I'm in no rush to go short it here. Does that mean anything at all?

the freep, who agreed with Tim Salmon
