Evil is knowing that what you are doing is not right, but doing it anyway. Evil is ignoring the small voice that tells you not to do it. Evil is convincing yourself that it's ok because it's expedient.

Lay aside what is ascribed to the people. What about the events? If they are horrific, why not call them evil? 'Cause you don't want to? Gee, that is deep.......

Folks want to believe, "What goes around comes around", yet the Bible says rain falls equally on the weeds as it does the flowers, and God says leave judgment to Him. Still I continually find the depths to which some sink "evil" by my standards. No one here is evil, IMO. Wrong sometimes, but never evil.

Nietzsche objected to the poles Good and Evil, in favor of Noble and Base, in line with his desire to substitute an aristocratic morality for Judeo- Christian morality. (Nietzsche acknowledged that we are valuing animals, and cannot exist without some kind of morality). The problem is that there are some acts where the malice is so overwhelming, use of the term Base makes little sense, and Evil fits better as a descriptive term. Depravity may be a worthwhile substitute, but it is practically a synonym for Evil, so why worry the question?

In regards to Communists, it is a ruthless and fanatical ideology, and those Communists who are not likely to perpetrate harm are either not very indoctrinated, as happened with casual recruitment during the Popular Front period, or have achieved a sort of opportunistic "post- Revolutionary" phase, where the need to join the party to succeed dilutes the ranks of true believers. True believers must be prepared to wage relentless war against class- traitors and revisionists......
