Robb; I do not bring requests such as this lightly to the board. The students attempted the interview process and the owners of the stores are not as willingly as you might think to share information about their operations. The students have also been researching through the Internet and other sources and had pretty much exhausted all the leads they had generated. They came to me in the spirit of investigation, not the spirit of asking for answers. I came to you in the same vein. Your idea about trade organizations is good and I will pass that on. As to opening a retail store being a bad idea- that was the charge the students are working under. (We have a problem-based curriculum here). The learning is in the investigation, the planning, the meeting with venture capitalist and such. Hopefully this learning transfers to other entrepreneurial or corporate planning situations. Thanks for your suggestion.
