China would rather trade with the rest of the world than threaten it with nukes. They are quickly learning about the joys of capitalism and the potential productivity of one billion citizens. If only they can figure out how to shake off the shackles of communism and personality cults, they can become both powerful and a trustworthy trade partner.

America really ought to take notice and quit the twin follies of self-pity (a liberal fault) and unilateralism (a conservative fault).
