Ted I have a lot of knowledge about the subject. The Domino theory was pushed by a lot of people with different agendas. It was not just a pet theory of Eisenhower. And even Eisenhower talked about "the possibility that many human beings pass under a dictatorship that is inimical to the free world." Not the certainty. He also said "So you could have a beginning of a disintegration that would have the most profound influences. Many people did indeed pass under a dictatorship the was inimical to the free world. And many more people where at risk of having this happen. So even Eisenhower's version was not "Asia will fall if we don't stop the communists in Vietnam"

Eisenhower came up with the theory to explain and defend his need for growing our military.

Eisenhower made the speech that brought the idea of the Domino theory to people's attention, but he didn't invent it himself and he wasn't the only person to push a version of it. His opponents pushed it. Democrats pushed the idea. People from all over the political spectrum except the hard left pushed it. (and before you attack me as saying everyone pushed it I am not saying that. Other people from many places on the political spectrum opposed it).

Eisenhower didn't grow our military much and to the extent he did it was in response to the recent events in Korea and the Soviet nuclear threat not fear of dominos falling all over Asia. The response to prevent the "dominos" from falling was mostly from Kennedy and Johnson.
