I was in the 'take the moral high ground' category in the 60's, and avoided the anarchists, and don't see anything like anarchy contaminating protests today. (I recall a 60's book called "Anarchists Cookbook" which was adapted from an Army manual on guerilla warfare but was lined up with Defreeze and the Patty Hearst / Weather Underground type groups here in the US. Come to find out, those violent groups had various provacateurs not just from communist countries but from our own shining examples of democracy, gov't spooks in FBI and elsewhere.) My own suspicion is that secrecy in government has infected many levels, and the more unaccounted funding and people, the greater the infection. Protest movements are attempted to be contaminated or destroyed, as FOIA docs show ad nauseum, so bottom line, it isn't the fringe that matters, imo, the wackos are either real or concocted but don't reflect the country. What matters is transparency and accountability at all levels, and those are the primary criminal acts of this administration (and others too of course, going back to Nixon, at least). Ollie North and Wm Casey are only two of a thousand examples, where the secret insiders take it upon themselves to take actions, raise funds, execute ops for political purposes, and once they cross that illegal line, there's no limits up to and including assassination. The discussion isn't framed in terms of equality, but freedom from extortion by insiders in government and business. Let those who have the luck or merit increase wealth and power, but answer to the rule of law, and the fundamental law that the public's business must be public. Unlike the 60's, the protesters I know are successful capitalists, workers and professionals, retired people, and aren't interested in "bringing it all down" in any economic sense. Of course, it may sound that way listening to the statements made by people like me who think almost the entire Washington cabal needs to be replaced with true public servants. If that's "bringing it down", then count me in!
