The term "only son" is "monogenes" in Greek and is used of Jesus when referring to His relationship with God as in John 1:14 or John 3:16. The word "monogenes" is also used of a widow's dead son that was raised to life by Jesus in Luke 7:12

Jesus is called Mary's firstborn (son), which is "prototokos" in Greek. It implies other children (siblings of Jesus) from Mary.
