1/ Why shouldn't the Swedes give the Nobel to Carter? He has monitored dozens of elections, in difficult countries? Even Arafat got it! 2/ The French don't "despise" America: the people on the far left and the far right do. May be some strong Muslims too. I even remember that twenty years ago they loved the Dallas series. Imagine!? Of course, philosophically and all, they prefered Clinton, in the Oval office... and seat. But they are learning, be sure. However, the rest of the paper is fine reading.
