I think the facts you have marshalled to support your argument defeats it. The French (whom we were arguing about) did not fight until tattered, starved, weak, hungry, crumbled and disintegrated. They were surprised at Germany's audacious gamble, which worked, and this demoralized them.

The Germans had no idea how demoralized the French were, and allowed them and the British to escape at Dunkirk. This may have cost the Germans the war.

When the other guy gets a hold of your logistics line, your soldiers quit fighting and start surrendering.

And one of the major reasons the US didn't stem to tide of the North Vietnamese invasion of the south...

However, after the failed attack during Tet, the Viet Cong infrastructure was effectively wiped out. An immediate invasion of eastern Cambodia would have denied any sanctuary to the survivors of that invasion.

This was shown in 1970, when the US invaded Cambodia and destroyed those bases and arms caches. The NVA war timetable was disrupted for years.

But we effectively pulled out the rug from under the South and left them to fend for themselves.

But that didn't stop the Soviets from continuing to replace the lost arms and ammunition destroyed in 1970..

Thus, it was only a matter of time before the south would lose...

Especially when the enemy has the ability to dedicate their total national resources to fighting a war...
