If we do this, I certainly hope that they are ours. It is not a time for Altruism. I especially would like to see the Euros on the outside, looking in, holding their hats.

The issue is far more complicated than that. There will certainly be oil companies who will be significant net beneficiaries after the Iraq mess is resolved as the US administration sees fit.

Yes, specific companies would benefit, but the oil industry as a whole would be hurt badly by a drop in prices, no doubt about that. Even looking only at American companies, there would surely be more pain than gain.
