Seriously, while prices have come down to quite interesting levels, the near future does not fill me, for one, with great appetite for the stock markets.

Its an unfortunate aspect of human nature to get increasingly bullish about the future as prices rise and get increasingly bearish about it as prices fall. Needless to say this is what makes most people so terrible at timing trend changes. You'd think that the pros would be better at prediction than the public, yet that is far from the case.
