most people lived in hovels, and were constantly trying to grab your bags to get tips, or sell you junk, because they are so poor........ Those people grabbing your bags to get tips are called bellmen. They probably make more than you do, at least they do in San Francisco.

And those people trying to sell junk (that keeps getting replenished) can be found on the street corners of NY and SF as well.

Junk?....that was marijuana. Unbelievable casual selling of that stuff in Jamaica. No wonder they entered a Jamaican bobsled team in the Olympics.

If your youngsters announce they're going to Jamaica for vacation or break, you can assume the worst and be correct.
