RE: "What is going on here is a major shift of technology from a growth industry to a mature industry."

This is another example of the "things are different this time" phenomena that appear at market extremes. A "mature technology industry" is almost an oxymoron. It is an example of an "expert" forecasting the future of the forest while he is unable to identify the species of individual trees. It is another projection of a very unusual present as the status quo model of the future.

In conclusion, it is wise to gain as much expertise as possible and to restrict risk assumption to a level commensurate with your current expertise because there are very few experts out there to advise you and very many charlatans to confuse you.

C) The wireless industry shows some signs of growth, but still modest (high single-digit sequential growth.) At least there is some ray of hope for growth, but it is still pretty modest.

Since when is "high single-digit sequential growth" modest??? That's probably 30-40% annually!

Rts

There may never be a rebound to previous levels of growth.

If this country / economy is NOT about technology what it is about? (I will not hold my breath for your answer.)

>> The better perspective is to take Texas Instrument's earnings release as yet another sign that the market has matured

Are they talking about PC's or tech? The latter sounds kind of silly.

Another problem with the bubble is/was the lack on innovation. Geeks were selling stock in worthless companies instead of tinkering in their garages. They're back in their garage now.
