Excellent piece, Alan. The Nobel Peace Prize is an award for agreeing with the Nobel Committee's political views while getting the most intense world news coverage possible.

In other words, it is a bad joke. An even worse joke than Alan Greenspan being knighted for stabilizing the world economy.

The Ignominious Peace Prize would be accompanied by cash, too. It wouldn't be a cash award - it would be a fine.
Personally, I favor sacrifice of body parts- -the tongue and hands of the recipient. This is the only way of guaranteeing these people will not repeat their error.

problem is too... there are far too many chamberlains still around that will never ever learn to oppose firmly instead of "apeacing" the beasts of the world.... and so we continue....

>>Jimmy Carter would be the first recipient of the Ignominious Peace Prize. Let's fine him $1 million so he can break even, which is more than the world is going to do because some stupidly trusted North Korea to abide by a treaty. <<

i suggested he was stupid/honest....

perhaps too generous?
