The boat was anchored outside the harbor and the local guy simply didn't go out to the boat when the storm came up. He left it at anchor.

The port captain tried to drag it back out to sea but couldn't get it off the beach. It's probably a total loss by now.

It is a sad thing. He worked for years on that boat - had all the best of everything on it. It was his dream to cruise around the Carribean for a few years. That's where he was headed when the hurricane came up.
