To compare North Korea with the Grand Duchy of Fenwick is an insult to Fenwick. It was a peace-loving country which never threatened its neighbors at all until it had to declare war on, and defeat, the US.

But in another sense, NK is no more of a real world threat to us than Fenwick was. Or Iraq, or Pakistan.

It would be nice if our government could articulate a principled, consistent policy about when we would invade countries and try to overthrow their governments. But it doesn't seem to likely to happen any time soon.

The only consolation I have is that based on what he's saying, Gore would have made an even bigger mess of this stuff than Bush has.

But of course, they should both give up and let Bill and jla run the country. We know they would both do a better job -- just ask them!
