nope...

i have read o'neil's analysis on cup and handle formations and he basically says that the preferred configuration is a longer, more extended "cup"....(base)

basically this means that the stock has had more time to consolidate as older holders have relinquished the stock as new buyers step in...

when you have a very deep, but shorter "cup" it seems to be indicating momentum is at play and when you get to the "handle" part of the formation, (sideways trading) the momentum players sell...and then the formation breaks down.
