I agree with your sentiment, but the name of the game everywhere on Wall Street right now is lowering expectations so you can meet or exceed at numbers time. This earnings season was "good" because of lowered expectations. How many companies reporting "good" results continued to lower expectations? Almost all.

Good companies NEVER did this, and still don't - they were and are realistic. But these companies are few and far between. The fire in the belly is what got alot of companies to the BK court. Their attempts at showing zeal went too far. As a result, investors are looking for a dose of reality.
