How about he trades his gun in for something like a nice size bomb with a timer and place the bomb under a school bus loaded with children. Placing a bomb would take less planning and less risk getting caught.

Could be wrong, but I think that's unlikely. Killers rarely change their MO radically.

Piss him off, and he's more likely to make a bad mistake.
