This guy is probably a spree killer who accidentally survived his spree, and now (thinks he) sees a way of getting out of whatever burden brought him to the point of the suicidal spree. Either that or he's a terrorist. Right now I could believe either one. -- Carl

Judging from the books on Borders' shelves and the Nielsen ratings, I'd say the best way towards a killer's financial enrichment is to create such an intriguing story that the media simply can't resist. As is the case here. Didja know Sammy Gravano served only 2 years for 19 murders, made a couple mil off book and movie? This DC chap has a few more bodies to go. And who supports it? The book-buying and movie-going public — "Us" — we do, essentially. (and lack of Federal-level "Son of Sam" legislation — even the families of Gravano's victims tried to block his publishing profits and the court system said, "Sorry, no SoS law here.") "Seems to me if this guy was that intent on killing as a means to financially enrich himself that he'd have started leaving notes from day one. Then, if the police didn't comply, do something rash, like shoot a child."
