Do you understand this at all?

Yes, I do understand it. I understand both sides. What used to be various Israeli positions, and various Palestinian politions, are becoming ever more polarized and ever harder to reconcile.

As you say, it is not about resolving the conflict, it's about hurting the enemy. Which is counter-productive and therefore not sane.

Sane people do not engage in acts which cause them more harm than good.

I remember the picture very well, very powerful propaganda, especially after Palestinian media was done editing it (Israeli soldiers shooting, boy cowering, Israeli soldiers shooting, boy dying, etc.)

Later examinations of the tape showed that the boy and his father had been shot from Palestinian positions, however:

This link refers to a German TV station reaching that conclusion

juden.de

which an article in Die Zeit later confirmed. I can't find the links just now. If SI's search was working I could find it as we discussed it on this thread. HawkMoon will remember it, he found the first evidence.

The very sad point is that Palestinians seem to have gone way beyond thinking what will work and what will not

True and sad. Not, however, a convincing argument for the present usefulness of withdrawal or compromise...
