Sounds like Al Qaeda is willing to cut off its nose to spite its own face. Taking down the oil industry would damage the Middle East kingdoms' principal source of power, the oil revenues that keep their economies going. Damage that, and the economies of the average Abdul there will have even more reason to oppose his own government. Sounds insidious and extreme, but typical of AQ to pursue an agenda that'll inflict misery on both sides of the ocean in its vain and losing effort.
