Fact: If we go to war it will likely be with a cloud over the mission -- no General wants to fight under those circumstances. Fact: If we do not go to war at this point, after all the posturing, we look like we were bluffing all along and lose credibility. Fact: Iraq could have been handled much better than it has been by staking out a position that could be used to rally a coalition. Fact: "Regime change" has morphed from a coalition-busting liability as articulated by Cheney (regime change by invasion) into a farce as now articulated by Powell and Bush (regime change with Saddam still in power).
