Good points. My Wild Ass Guess is that the Chechens, or at least most of them, are still in the nationalist struggle mode, but that the totalitatrian Islamist bunch are fighting hard to get the upper hand.

Same problem as in the Cold War, new ideology.You got it, Nadine. And the attacks will sporadically intensify each time the islamofascists establish new communications and staging areas.

I hope the major powers can keep them on the run and off balance. It's a terrible shame the US bungled Tora Bora.
