On CNN they're talking about how the killer named the hotline respondants who blew hm off; but as usual CNN is missing the real point, I think.

If he's not a native English-speaker, how could he be sure of the names? How could he spell them comprehensibly? They may not have been "English" names, but they wouldn't necessarily have been familiar to him.

Did he just "remember" these names? Names collected in the course of six calls made from phone booths? I suppose it's possible that he had a notepad and pen each time he called, but it seems to me unlikely.

Then...I'm pretty disorganized about having a pen handy.
