Hi Snowshoe, My guess is that they were fleeing the area, and that they did indeed know that they were being sought for questioning. I'd further guess that one of them (maybe the son) would be a lookout while the other one slept, and then they'd trade off and let the original lookout sleep while the rested one remained vigilant. Why they didn't do this while driving is beyond me, and why they'd go into a rest area rather than a wooded area along a deserted road is also a mystery. Perhaps they didn't think that they'd be spotted? Who knows... KJC
