So far as I know, the only thing I've given them a pass on is not being perfect crime fighters who prevent bad acts before the fact every time, which seems reasonable to me. I separate the wheat from the chaff, and say I know they can help fight crime, so I welcome their participation in a case like this. Where they have been operating in a criminal fashion themselves, I would never give them a pass, thank-you.
