"Didn't we once give Britain the finger over such nonsense?" Not exactly... The elite in America were pissed because British taxes were cutting into their take without giving them anything in return. Now the elite get lots in return from the government for their tax dollars...new laws, government contracts, political appointments etc. Of course the rest of us get screwed, but don't expect a rebellion soon. Joe Sixpack is content to sit back and let the government rape him as long as he can keep his cable TV, beer, and twinkies.

The key players involved in giving Britain the boot, didn't really do it over Taxes..( that was just the excuse ) , They did it to keep from paying back the Money they had borrowed. Jefferson was so deep in debt he had no way out but the poor house. The Tea Party over taht tax was hype , the Tea they tossed overboard only had a small token tax on it, and sold much cheaper tax and all than Tea Jefferson was trying to sell. On top of taht they thought nothing about dressing up as Indians and trying to shift the blame to them. -------------- Our leaders never were as great or as good as our history paints them, we just traded & got rid of the fleas to get ciggers.
