I would buy strangle/strandles in the middle. Most straddles are offsetted asymetrically.
You then can sell the call leg at the high end, and sell the put leg on the pullback.
OTOH, we are in times of high volatility and the premiums are high to buy.
OTTH, volatility and premiums could increase.

You are right. It isn't the fact that we are in the middle that matters. What is important is whether you think we are in the middle of a small range or a big one. I think we are in the middle of a big one, which suggests buying a straddle, not selling.
