I'm still kinda partial to my April 2000 post on this thread suggesting that the smart money had (with the help of the media) set up a "buy and hold" smoke screen" so that the public would stay invested stocks while they were moving into high yielding bonds.

Now of course the media is bombarding us with "investment ideas that preserve your cash" feature stories like crazy.

Cuz they know that now that the US government is starting to run deficits again, rates will have to go up and as result, bonds will go down. So now they have set up a "buy bonds" smoke screen" so they can sell the bonds they've made a bundle on.
