During the board of directors meeting (which you may still be able to see online), a stockholder asked Larry about expensing options. Larry deferred to board members that were experts about this, and one of them answered at some length. It was interesting, both as an overview of what's wrong with trying to lump options expenses into a single number, and also to show something of the dynamics of the Oracle board. This meeting reinforced the feeling I've long had that Oracle has a very strong board of directors that isn't controlled by Ellison. Either they are very good actors (which would be unlikely given their day jobs), or they actually take their responsibilities seriously, and don't rubber stamp decisions made by company executives.
