I had to think a bit before answering. One, I was wondering if Black Belt is not a known term to others? That's not color of people. It's the middle section of the state, and so-called because of the color of the soil. However, it is largely populated by poor blacks. It was a section of plantations in the old days and it's never recovered. Which is a shame. It's beautiful, and the people are great. Be that as it may, what I meant was that land is cheap, and isolated. So people with bad purposes buy it up. And we tend to let well enough alone here. Maybe we can't anymore? For race relations, you won't find a better place in the country. Go figure. Alabama learned hard, but it learned. I've lived and visited all around this country and this is the best place besides Atlanta. Religion wise, it's dicey. They are all into christians here but they won't kill you. My point was how easy it is, and how much it has been done, for people from the outside to buy up land and run their camps. So... speaking for the people of Alabama... go away. We don't want you. Islamic Fundamentalist, Crazy Cristian...whatever... go away.

Now... I just kind of used you to say that. Hope you don't mind. :)

And all that stuff about immigrants pulling themselves up? This is Alabama. We've been here. But... do I wish they would get over the war and do something? Yes. Breaks my heart. The rest of the country might just laugh at Bama and Mississippi and Louisiana. But it really isn't very funny when you love people here.
