I saw solutions that involved manual registry deletions and entries; DOS commands to force display of phantom devices for WinXp; complicated install and reinstall procedures, as well as simple ones. You can't tell if you're getting closer or farther away; or if just one procedure is misplaced or missing; or if you need a new OS; or a new card, etc. A new card wouldn't be a bad upgrade for my 2 year old system, though.

I am surprised the opengl is as pervasive as it is if it so problematic with so many configurations.

The downloadable opengl program from its own website is a still a BETA version. So, what's up with that?

Plus, now that I have updated the nVidia drivers, I tried reinstalling the MDK game that came with my Dell; but it won't run at all now. So, this hunt is creating more problems than it is solving and it's solving none.
