Re: Fatman and Littleboy only shortened the inevitable and saved countless Japanese (...) lives.

Please explain how two nuclear bombs on two major cities filled with civilians saved Japanese lives. I am all ears.

To defeat terrorism means we have to defeat the source of it, Islamic militancy.

Right and wrong. Yes, the source has to be dealt with, but the source is not Islamic "militancy" - those mad groups have always existed and will always exist in one form or another. What is different now that those marginal groups are finding popular support because the populace at large is under the impression that Muslims around the world are suffering because of American foreign policies. The "source" of terrorism that needs to be eliminated is the link between the marginal weirdos and the public that currently supports them.

In my humble opinion, the US needs to first break loose from its role of supporting the occupation of Israel, and be the bringer of piece to that area. The world needs to see America as the powerful but benevolent giant it once was and not the blood-thirsty giant who is out to dominate the world as it appears now.

That means we'll eventually be required to overthrow the Wahhabbis in Saudi Arabia, preferably through another Arab entity such as the Hashemites. But first we have to deal with Saddam.. or should I just say all the baathists, which includes Syria.

This attitude is the exact opposite of what I am suggesting in the paragraph above. If America insists on taking this path, you don't need an oracle to tell you that terrorist attacks will escalate and Americans will not be safe anywhere. It is very sad that you cannot see this.
