And more to the point - more civilians died in Lenningrad, Moscow and Manchuria than in all of Japan.

Don't moralize or evaluate a decision made 57 years ago based on current knowledge and technology. You could also read the link and see the decision was wayed against potential civilian causulties in the millions.

And on Nagasaki and Hiroshima - they were military targets. The Japanese did not have (due to population density - not design) any military industrial centers with no civilians nearby. They could have nuked Tokyo or other population centers, but chose smaller military targets.
