Sure, dropping the sanctions would tank the price of oil almost as as effectively as an invasion -- although
an invasion would also serve to destroy OPEC once and for all time. But this is more than that -- this is about control of the whole of the mid-east.

Terrorism is not going to go away if we go in an "capture" Iraq. We are providing the perfect conditions for terrorists to step up their recruiting efforts and provide decades of fuel to fire their hatred of the US.

I am sure that if the sanctions were to be dropped today, the friendly government of Iraq would just decide to award the oil contracts to American corporations and the Iraqi population would be oh so happy with that because they for they so love the Americans.

If that was the case we don't need to invade.......just drop the sanctions.
