He won't be governor after election day.

I would think he is Governor until Jan 1. That is when they usually switch. Then Dems will probably put someone on the ticket to stop him from doing so. This is not a slam dunk for the Rep candidate now. The sympathy vote could put a dem in if they run "name".

Not himself, he wants out of politics and might get back into wrestling in an executive role.

It does bring up an interesting question though. If he appoints an independent or a Republican or just lets it ride the Republicans will control the lame duck Senate. Daschale would just be one of the boys again.
