I have never felt the need to spit in anyone's eye.

And since I believe in equal opportunity and equal responsibilty, I think you should withdraw your suggesting that this is a male phenemenon. In reality, some of the more vicious fights that have taken place in the family law cases I have known or observed over the years have been between women, not men.

Equal opportunity spitting for all.

So you would rather toss aside your principles than be called a coward by people who are beneath you? Real men don't worry about being called a coward, real men worry about losing their principles. I cannot understand that. Mr. X would never do that. He is brave precisely because he would never let an aggressor turn him into that which he despises. That is real courage. If people cannot recognize that for what it is, it casts only a poor reflection on them, and a good reflection on you.

That reminds me of a Christmas when gramps gave me a pair of boxing gloves. He was demonstrating how to hold my hands and then let go a punch which knocked me out. At the time he was past eighty and it was several months before he was allowed near any of the grandchildren.
