I should have checked my facts a little closer. Sorry about that :-| Both of the memorable moments you cited should arguably be among the top 10 memorable moments in baseball too. The 5 I listed & your 2 were moments when you were either jumping for joy at the astounding feat delivered in a decisive moment in the World Series or the Championship playoffs....... or you stood dumbfounded as a fan of the opposing team........ not knowing whether to cry or wind your wrist watch ;-) Either way, each of those events would likely stand as a most memorable moment for all concerned IMVHO. RE: Gibson's homer........ I've heard the allegations about it too........ I've watched that video often enough to wonder how the heck he got a home run out of it too. I guess we'll never know. It sure made one heck of a story at the time. A personal memorable moment for me was the 1979 World Series.......... I attended game 5 when Bill Madlock and Tim Foli saved the day & began the run for the championship. Madlock went 4-4 & Foli drove in 3 runs in a 7-1 victory. The Orioles were still up 3 games to 2, but I just knew the Bucs were going to win the Series when all was said & done. The Pirates became the fourth team in history to win the Series after losing three of the first four games........ Willie Stargell, was CO-MVP for the regular season, batting .281 & hitting 32 home runs & 82 RBI's. He was MVP of the NL Playoffs with a .455 batting average, including 2 homers & 6 RBI's in 3 games. In the World Series, Stargell won MVP honors by hitting .400, with a record seven extra-base hits and matched Reggie Jackson's record of 25 total bases (a record that still stands) & 7 RBI's. All this accomplished at the age of 39. Stargell remains the oldest player to win the award. Stargell got the game winning RBI's with a 2 run homer in game seven. Phil Garner batted a record .500 in the series (12 for 24)....... one of only two players in history to appear in all seven games of a World Series and bat .500. Kent Tekulve recorded a record 3 saves in the series (Record was broken in 1996). The '79 Pirates were the only team in baseball history to take a World Series without boasting a 15-game winner. As a team the Pirates batted .323 in the Series, with Garner hitting .500, Stargell @ .400, Madlock @ .375, Parker @ .345 & Foli, Moreno, Milner & Ott, hitting .333. Oh & the 1979 Steelers won their 4th Super Bowl in 6 years, making Pittsburgh the City of Champions ;-) sigh
