Ross,

Yup have been here from nearly the start, and even exchanged a few mails with the guys who started it.

You know we were talking about the last O&G rally and Rainwater said it was an obvious place to make money? Well my history of doing exactly that is all laid out here.

Checkout -

Bought a lot of SFY at $6 (though many more much too soon!)

Sold a big chunk when stock was around $40

And it looks as if I was always a budding anal-yst!

What I particularly liked in that last post is this one paragraph -

Talking about future valuations for SFY - <<< I'd guess they'd conservatively say $20 by next year, $30 by the year after and $45 the following year. If you then told them that the growth was contingent upon one thing (the price of a market commodity which could easily be tracked), and that the cost of this opportunity was presently <$7.50, I think you'd be trampled to death in the rush. >>>

That is EXACTLY how it turned out. The stock peaked at just over $40 and the story then started changing.

Hopefully I have refined my strategies a little since then, and am sincerely hoping for an even bigger win from ALGX. IMO, the telecom sector today offers EXACTLY the same potential for handsome returns as O&G did back at the start of 1999. ALGX is a much better company than SFY, and IMO even less understood.

But it's basically here that I learned about recovery plays, and team work on a good message board. Amazing to see your history laid out like this though.

It does seem kind of curious though to see several years of discussion laid out in 1500-odd messages? How times change! The Yahoo ALGX MB now gets that many posts in two weeks!!
