It's mostly, "hey man, lemme show up, play and gimme that big ass check every two weeks" ...>> that was the contradiction of Irvin. His private life was high-speed and fast and a mess, i saw his mea culpa on this , and had real doubt about his sincerity. I have lost track totally what's with Irvin post -retirement. But Irvin always was a killer on the field. Hey maybe he came around, i don't carry severe in concrete judgements on the life of gifted athletes in a world of extreme temptation until they get into the Mike Tyson category or Dennis McClain category, where after second chances and third chances they proved to be just criminal scum. Irving Fryar is my classic example of a 'wild-ass out of control guy with super ability' and got it right, and was one very impressive man by the time his playing days came to an end. Look, The Babe, was a drunken philandering wildman( ESPN biography showed he had a quickie with a prositute before many a game) until cancer caught him; but i could never ever judge Babe. There was never ever any MEANNESS in The Babe, as many simply called Babe Ruth. I think MEANNESS is that which i can't handle, Tyson, bottomline is just a mean psycopath with no conscience and same goes for Dennis McClain, who worked very hard at scam after scam to heartlessly rip people off, it takes a person of no concience to do what McClain did. For instance, i want to see Bob Hayes, put in the Hall of Fame. He just lost his way,for a time. This is what to me was the message Jesus was saying when he said be born again.PaxMax P.S. deep apologies for getting way off the subject.
