I expect the darker sides of the Catholic organization revelled in this inequality as much as hizbollah does today in the Palestinian sector of Israel. It's quite easy to imagine the Orange order in Ireland being given a free hand in ensuring they prospered in Ireland. My image of the peace process working in NI actually leaves NI as an entity.
