Hi Steve,

In the car world - they wear out.Last I loked that happens when harddrives fill up and moving parts go cafluey.

Here's why the down turn won't happen and why a recovery is in the future.

During this post stock ditribution recession many electronic dreams have become reality:

FTTH fiber to the home/business is now affordable. In 95 we built a new showroom. We wanted the extension from our maniframe to be optic cable - you would've thought we were looking for rocket scientists It cost $15,000.

Last year Southwestern Bell took it from the ground to our phone sustem for 3000.00.It cost me more to patch the asphault.

This leap of technology has become commonplace. In short it has become affordable -just since the decline of the stock market. It's just another cycle that's all.

As cost come down the efficiencies of advanced technologies justify upgrades.

This is what is meant by Thechnology reinventing itself.

One last example.

In 1992 we purchased an ATS automotive software and mainframe.Software maintenance cost 3500 per month.

New Server/Client Web based applications require We buy a server and hook up all PC.s to a network.

Cost of network 45,000 to 50,000 25% of our now 10 year old mainframe.Monthly software maintenance less that 1,000 and our printers will be able to make: checks ,R.O.'s,and many other printed forms we must buy.

With the monthly software savings we PAY for THE new system in less than 24 months.

Thes are not arbitrary upgrades we make cause we're awaiting the return of the recovery. They are cost saving upgrades that justify themselves over a long term payout.

Not to mantion the software - which 10 years ago was like the stuff of magic, now it provide realt ime reports.Thecapability to drill down into the data base will free up many of the old "management tasks that are quite burdensome of my managements time.

With enhanced technology they can get out and manage instead of track tedious reports.

Beige book up or down - the relentless decline of technology's costs continues to open additional applications to smaller firms.

Database management now becomes the reality of small business - not just blue chip big business.

The revolution is'nt over - its just in between another battle field.
