I don't think people "should" be good at everything. But I do think every person should be able to make a personal connection to a subject area though. I think that history, for example, can be taught to almost anyone, whether they are primarily talented at Enlgish, or science or sports. If you teach a subject well, you can find hooks into it for most students. I don't think you can expect all students to write the perfect sonnet, but all students can learn to express themselves about their passions, in some manner.

I think once you know the student, you can find that path to teaching them. It is not Mc Education that is the best way (IMO). If you find the right path, the students will begin to teach themselves.
