The line that bin Laden and al Quada are like Arafat are like the Saudis are like Saddam are like Nazis are like whatever piece of the Arab / Muslim world that needs demonization at the moment for propaganda purposes is an old and popular one around here. False dichotomies are probably second only to straw men in the cheesy high school debate tricks arsenal.

No matter how much he talks about nuances, the nuances are really lost on Win. He reduces everything to a charicature, no doubt so that he can think he's getting off witty bon mots. Satire and subtlety don't mix. One needs a broad brush, one needs a fine brush.

Admittedly, our discussions about the nature of the enemy need more information, more insight, but we are struggling to understand something that is alien to us.

Win strikes me as the kind of person who thought "kill a Commie for Christ" was funny during the Cold War.

I wish we all would spend less time engaging him and more time engaging each other.
