One can take a broader view of the blowback concept. Recently saw an article by a military psychologist describing how military recruits are taught to devalue human life as part of the training process. Killing fellow humans does not come naturally to most people -- they have got to be programmed.

But apparently this programming is almost impossible to reverse once fully absorbed. That is why so many ex-military people (or at least those who have experienced combat) are walking time bombs. Tim Mcveigh was a decorated tank commander in the Gulf war.

This is still another price the country will have to pay if it wants to maintain an empire. Not only terror attacks by enemies but periodic homicidal outbursts from its own trained killers.
